The Barron Falls is one of the highlights of the local landscape, particularly in the wet season (December to April) when the falls are at their highest flow. The Barron falls are located between Kuranda and Cairns when the Barron river drops down from the elevated tablelands to the coastal level. They are visible from a lookout which can be accessed via the Cairns Skyrail, the Cairns-Kuranda train tour or by car. For the fit and adventurous, you can also walk from the Cairns suburb of Kamerunga up to Kuranda. The lookout is less than half an hour drive from Cairns by car.
